Via io, via voi, via tutte”: economic independence, safety, and female self-defence at the core of Victoria Ferrua’s book

More and more women are saying “via”. Away from relationships that deplete them, away from economic dependence, away from roles that have made them vulnerable. A quiet yet tangible shift, now accompanied by an increasingly urgent need: knowing how to protect oneself, defend oneself, and stay safe when a situation becomes dangerous.

This is the starting point of Via io, Via voi, Via tutte (Autoritas Editore), the book by Victoria Ferrua, available on Amazon and on the online stores of Mondadori and Feltrinelli. The title unfolds as a firm, progressive decision. Not a slogan, but a clear position that begins with a troubled personal history and develops into economic independence, female empowerment, and personal safety.

The book opens with a dedication and two forewords that immediately define its scope. It is not a private story told for its own sake, but a path that connects with those who work every day to protect women in real life. Among them is Donnexstrada, an association with a large following, actively engaged in prevention and practical support against violence in public spaces.

In the same direction stands Victoria Ferrua’s centre, with its operational base in the Maciachini area of Milan, which is becoming a Purple Point: a clearly identifiable physical place where women can enter, pause, and find protection while moving through the city. Not a symbol, but a concrete network of urban safety.

At the heart of the book lies SOSNESS, the method developed by the author and strengthened through contributions from professionals and public figures working in this field. An approach that combines mental readiness, risk awareness, panic management, and the ability to act. Not limited to family or relationship contexts, but applicable to a wide range of emergency situations.

The theme of economic independence is further explored through dialogue with Azzurra Rinaldi, economist and President of the Gender Gap PhD Programme at Unitelma Sapienza University, who has long been committed to highlighting the connection between financial autonomy and women’s freedom. Without economic independence, the option to leave often remains theoretical.

The practical dimension of SOSNESS is reinforced by the contribution of Staccioli, an Olympic champion, who brings into the book the values of preparation, mental training, and clear, controlled response under pressure. In this perspective, safety is competence before it becomes courage.

Via io, Via voi, Via tutte weaves together autobiography, economic self-determination, and personal defence. It does not promise rescue from the outside. It teaches how to build it.
